LICENSE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

FIRST LICENSE RENEWAL:  If this is your first license renewal, you will need to complete 30 hours of pre-approved mandatory post-licensing courses.

NOT YOUR FIRST LICENSE RENEWAL:  If this is NOT your first license renewal, you need to complete 16 hours of pre-approved continuing education courses. This consists of eight hours of required topics and 8 hours of real estate related electives. The eight hours of required topics include one hour each of Agency, Contracts and Legal Updates, two hours of Fair Housing, and three hours of Ethics.

BROKER LICENSE RENEWAL:  Brokers are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education courses consisting of the 16 hours listed above, plus eight additional hours of pre-approved Real Estate Management and Agent Supervision 
 

2018 UPCOMING EDUCATION CLASSES

Thursday, August 9, 2018 - Broker Day - VR Staff Counsel Jon Haley will be instructing the following classes:

 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. - 2018 New Laws -   This couse will provide information on the laws passed by the 2018 General Assembly and how the new laws will impact your business, and is approved for 2 hours Broker Management.lass is approved for 2 hrsFair Housing

11:30 to 12:30 p.m.  - Broker Supervison Case Studies and Best Practices - This course will cover all 9 areas of broker supervision included in the regulations.  Topics include broker liability, duties, compensation, and reasonabel and adequate supervision, and is approved for 2 hours Broker Management.

3:00 to 4:00 p.m.  - Agency: A Complicated Relationship Got questions about your agency relationship?  Want to know how brokers and Realtors® should work together?  This course has the answers to the most frequently asked questions about agency, and is approved for 1 hour Broker Management.

3:00 to 4:00 p.m.  - Earnest Money Deposits: Navigating Dangerous Waters! - Escrow is the most frequently asked topoic on VR's Legal Hotline and is the most common VREB violation.  This course will review the laws and regulations with respect to escrow monies including: contract considerations, how and when it need to be deposited, what do you do when the deal dies: disbursement, and how to hopefully avoid a violation.  These issues and ore, will be discussed, and the class is approved for 1 hour Broker Management.

 

Classes will be held at the Northern Neck Association of Realtors, Callao Professional Building, Lower Level, 268 Northumberland Highway, Callao, VA 22435.  Note:  Classes are free for Primary and Secondary members of the Northern Neck Association of Realtors®.  Cost for non-NNAR members is $35.
